New home planned for QE2

The owner of the QE2 is considering opening the iconic ocean liner as a floating hotel elsewhere in the Middle East or Africa, rather than in the Dubai. Nakheel said it was evaluating options for the ship ahead of a planned refurbishment and that other ports had expressed interest in hosting the ship.
South Africa’s Business Day newspaper reported that the company had applied to anchor the ship in Cape Town. Nakheel is reportedly struggling financially as a result of the global economic downturn.
