The Three Gorges Dam project cost CNY254.2 billion (US$37.23 billion) - more than four times its original budget, Xinhua has reported. When the project was initially approved in 1992, the government said it would cost CNY57 billion, however infrastructure and relocation costs have significantly raised the final price tag.
